Almond and Turbinado Sugar Scrub

I've actually made this scrub quite a few times, both for myself, and others! ;-) It leaves your skin feeling really clean & soft. Try it out and tell me how you like it!

Ingredients


1 1/2 cups turbinado sugar (a raw sugar, widely available in grocery stores and health food shops)
3/4 cup almonds
1/2 cup olive oil
1 capsule vitamin E

Directions
Grind almonds, not into a paste, but so they're still chunky.
Place the ground almonds in a clean bowl, and add the turbinado sugar.
Add in the olive oil.
Stir mixture together and apply to a clean face. Lightly scrub, being careful to avoid the eye area and not to overscrub.
You can use the recipe up to three times a week.

Almond and Blueberry Face Mask

Almond & Blueberry Face Mask

Ingredients

4 tablespoons fresh blueberries
3 teaspoons oats
1 teaspoon almonds
1 teaspoon wild flower honey

Directions

Add the oats, and turn on the food processor for a few seconds, until it forms a fine, powdery meal.
Add the almonds (with the skin on) and turn on the food processor again. The almonds will be coarser, but the consistency together will create a smooth mixture for your mask.
Place these two dry ingredients in a mixing bowl. Add the fresh blueberries (you can use frozen if they're out of season, look for organic!) to the food processor and pulse a couple times until the blueberries are mixed, but still chunky.
Add the blueberries and the teaspoon of honey to the bowl with the dry ingredients.
Apply the mixture to your face, or if you are using fresh blueberries and you want to cool it, put it in the refrigerator for a few minutes before applying.
Leave the mask on for 10 minutes, then rinse, patting your face gently with a towel.

Ingredients

1 /2 cucumber, peeled and pureed
1 egg white
1/2 teaspoon apple juice
1/4 teaspoon lemon juice
1/4 teaspoon lime juice
1/2 teaspoon mint leaves

Directions

Combine all ingredients. Refrigerate for 10 minutes to allow the mixture to cool.
Apply a layer to a clean, freshly washed face, leave on for 20 minutes to allow the facial mask to moisturize and restore skin.
Rinse well with warm water.
This mask is best when used immediately because the ingredients are perishable.

Ingredients

1 bar unscented castile soap
1/2 cup powdered milk
1/4 cup dried dandelion blossoms
1/4 cup dried chamomile flowers
1/4 cup dried rose flowers

Directions

Grate the castile soap and place it in a bath proof container. Add the powdered milk and then the flowers.
Turn on the bathwater and add 1-2 tablespoons of the bubble bath mixture under the running water.
Get in and enjoy!

Ingredients

The pulp from 1 cucumber, frozen

1 tablespoon brewers yeast

1 tablespoon finely powdered oats

2 tablespoons plain, full fat yogurt

1 teaspoon honey

Directions

Place the cucumber in a food processor and add the yogurt. Add the honey.
In a mixing bowl, combine the oats and the brewers yeast.
Add the cucumber mixture to the dry ingredients and stir until incorporated well.
Apply to a clean face and let sit for 15 to 20 minutes, then rinse. Follow with Cucumber Coconut Soothing Toner (see recipe).

Ingredients

1 cucumber
1/2 cup coconut milk
2 tablespoons coconut oil

Directions

Take one full size cucumber, chop it up and puree it in the food processor.
Use a cheesecloth draped over or into a shallow bowl, pour the pureed cucumber into the cheesecloth and strain the liquid.
Take the remaining pulp in the cheesecloth and place it into a freezer bag and place it in the freezer to harden (use it for the Cool as a Cuke Mask). Leave the cucumber juice in the bowl or place in measuring glass.
Add the coconut milk to the juice of the cucumber you prepped earlier. Now, whisk in the coconut oil until it emulsifies, or is incorporated into the mixture.
You can keep the toner in a clean ketchup bottle, just squirt a little on a cotton ball and dab on a just-washed face. Or, you can put it in a spray bottle and spritz directly on your skin. For an even more cooling feel, store the toner in the fridge.

Belly Balm

This recipe is great for someone having a baby! The homemade moisturizing balm helps keep your skin soft and pliable during pregnancy. Use as often as desired.

Ingredients

3 capsules vitamin E
10 drops rosemary oil
10 drops rosehip seed oil
1 1/2 cups balm base (See Here)

Directions

Prick the vitamin E capsules and add them into the mixture. Squeeze the top and work your way down, like a toothpaste tube, to make sure you get the oil in the balm instead of all over your hands.

Add the rosemary oil and the rosehip oil.

Stir until the ingredients are incorporated into the balm.

Store in a sealable container and use as often as desired.

2 TBS Witch Hazel
15 Drops Peppermint Oil
5 Drops Tea Tree Oil
10 Drops Orange Oil
1 1/4 Cups Balm Base (See Here)

Directions

Add witch hazel to balm base in bowl. Next, add oils in order listed and mix. Scoop into a sealable container and use as often as desired.

Balm Base

Use this base to make Belly Balm and Leg & Foot Balm (See Recipes) or any other kind of lotion or balm that strikes your fancy.

Ingredients

1 Cup Sunflower Oil
1 Cup Coconut Oil
1/2 Cup Shea Butter
1/2 Cup Beeswax
1/2 Cup Cocoa Butter

Directions

Measure out the solid ingredients, the shea butter, beeswax, and cocoa butter, and combine them in a heatproof glass container. Heat for 1 minute in a double boiler.

Stir the ingredients together so the oily cocoa butter mixes with the beeswax and shea butter.

Now add the oils.

Finally, separate into two containers and keep them warm so you can make the Belly Balm and Foot Cream.

1 cup rosewater
2 TBS witch hazel
1 TBS alcohol
1 TBS aloe vera gel
5 drops rosehip oil

Directions

Add all ingredients into a bottle in the order which they're listed. Shake gently to mix. Apply with a cotton ball.
