Guide to CVS Shopping

1. Get a CVS Extra Care Card. (It’s free and will enable you to get all of the sale prices each week.)

2. Know how to use CVS’s ECB Program. Extra Care Bucks or ECB’s are coupons that print out at the end of your receipt after you’ve purchased certain items. Like Walgreen’s RR’s, items that give you ECB’s back are advertised in their weekly ad or on signs posted throughout the store. Always remember to have the cashier scan your Extra Care card first before ringing up your items, so you do not miss out on ECB Deals or sale prices! But unlike Walgreens, if you want to buy an item with a MFR’s coupon and an ECB, you do NOT need filler! Woo Hoo!

You can sometimes even “profit” off of these deals! Let me give you an example: if Zyrtec is on sale for $5.99 with $5.99 ECB’s back, that means it’s automatically FREE. If you have a $4 MFR coupon to use also, that means that you will only pay $1.99 and still get back $5.99 ECB! Deals such as this one are called “money makers” (MM).

CVS also gives 2% back every 3 months on purchases in-store and online that comes in the form of ECB’s.

3. At CVS you can “roll” ECB’s from like deals, AND (unlike at Walgreens) you can use as many ECB’s from previous purchases to pay for your order, no matter if you are purchasing 1 or 20 items!

4. Scan your card at the “magic coupon machine” at the front of the store and be on the lookout for any other CVS coupons.

5. Sign up for e-mail updates when you register your Extra Care Card online. CVS will sometimes send you dollar off a certain purchase amount coupons (such as $4/$20 coupons), which you are able to use before any other store or manufacture coupons for greater savings!

6. When you are ready to checkout, give your coupons to the cashier in this order: $4 off $20 store coupon (or any other money-off store coupon), CVS store product coupons, manufacturer coupons and finally Extra Care Bucks. Happy CVSing!
